Being a mother often means we forget to put ourselves first and how to truly give ourselves down time to just sit back and relax. For this Mother’s Day, why not spend the day exploring with your family and enjoy being out and about with your loved ones?
Since Petit Bazaar flagship store is located in the heart of Wan Chai, it’s only fitting that our first neighbourhood guide is dedicated to one of our favourite districts in Hong Kong. Wan Chai is known for its hustle and bustle, and there are plenty of activities the neighborhood offers. We’ve curated a list of our favourite spots and activities to do in Wan Chai to help you explore this Mother’s Day!
1. Let’s go brunching
Start off your day with a quality brunch at Feather and Bone, a bistro and grocer known for its forest green bricks exterior. The Wan Chai branch is just across Southorn Playground and offers an extensive menu for breakfast and lunch. Whether you’re a fan of the hearty all-day English breakfast or egg benedicts, Feather and Bone serves up classic brunch items that would satisfy any discerning diners. If you’re feeling extra fancy, treat yourself to The Butcher’s Breakfast, a full experience of the classic English breakfast with free-range Aussie scramble eggs, extra grass-fed bone marrow and bottomless sourdough toasts. Here’s our little tip: the best seats in the restaurants are by the windows, which have plenty of natural sunlight and lots of cushions for comfy dining.
2. Learn more about Hong Kong history
Take a stroll around the neighbourhood and head over to Hong Kong House of Stories to learn more about Wan Chai. Located within the iconic Blue House, the community centre hosts exhibitions, workshops and community guided tours. It’s a great way to learn more about the diverse neighbourhood and the beautiful design of Blue House makes the perfect Instagram backdrop for family portraits.
3. Cocktail hour at a historical building
Refurbished into a restaurant and bar, Wo Cheong Tea House offers an extensive menu of modern Chinese food and cocktails. Enjoy small bites of dim sum and sip well-crafted cocktails by the balcony, and watch life go by in town.
4. Explore, eat and shop in Star Street area
There are plenty of boutique shops, restaurants and cafes in Star Streets. If you’re into quality lifestyle goods, take a trip to Kapok and update your wardrobe. For Korean food lovers, Danji is a new Korean bistro that serves up quality Korean comfort food. Do make a reservation in advance since they often get booked out!
5. Come say hi at Petit Bazaar
How can you miss a trip to our flagship store when in Wan Chai? Our two-storey concept store has an extensive selection of nursery essentials, toys, kids furniture and even stylish accessories for chic mums. While Petit Bazaar is best known for kids products, we also stock plenty of French accessories brands for mums including the French brand Zag Bijoux and Louise Misha. For mums who love to cook and style their dinner table, don’t miss out our huge collection of RICE DK kitchenware.
6. Pamper yourself with a massage
After a long day of brunching, exploring and shopping, wind down the day with a massage. Zen Joy’s massage therapists have more than 20 years of experience in reflexology and massage therapy, and the pricing is one of the most reasonable in town. Being a mum means you’re always on your feet running errands and doing chores, so treat yourself to a massage session and relax for the rest of the day!
